The Future Of The Home Of Sports In New Orleans

In the battle for rebuilding New Orleans as a sports town, or at least a town with professional sports teams, the Saints get a check mark on the plus side, with the NFL pledging to kick in 20 million dollars to the expected 140 million it will cost to repair the New Orleans' Superdome. This has been made at the urging of team owner Tom Benson.

While the NFL would like the Saints to play all there home games next season in the dome, tHe NBA isn't quite as commited. At least not yet. The league is hoping the Hornets can return to New Orleans full-time for the 2007-08 seasonand is negotiating to bring the N-B-A All-Star game to that city in 2008. But it has been announced that the team will play 35 of its home games in Oklahoma City next season. The other six will be played in New Orleans.
